Taxpayers buck up to fund expanded holding facilities as illegal immigration surges

The Karnes County Civil Detention Center in Texas has outdoor spaces and other features meant to make immigrant detention less like prison. It will house mostly low-risk, nonviolent offenders.
Unlike Obama’s administrative amnesty activity which is not directly observable, the new deluxe detention centers are easily photographed and look nicer than the schools attended by many people’s kids. One example is the Karnes County Texas facility that cost taxpayers $30 million:
